Finding Mr. Bright & Marie pjs

Benefit’s Finding Mr. Bright

It’s a fairly new mini gift box and I over-estimated the size thinking that it was small but it turned out to be mini sample-sized small -_-”. I guess its a great way to try out new products. The Mr. Bright mini gift box comes with:

  • Girl Meets Pearl
  • High Beam
  • Erase Paste
  • Posietint

I already own Girl Meets Pearl and I LOVE it. I use most of the time under my blush and sometimes under foundation for that dewy, bronzy gold look which is ONLY obvious under orange or lightly dimmed light. Its more of a night-time use. I love the smell of it and it’s similar to That Gal, but with gold infused into pink like champagne-coloured.

High Beam is my new favourite item, it’s very similar to Miss Popularity circa 2007. Miss Popularity is now discountinued and I was so sad when they discountinued it but turns out High Beam is very similar to Miss Popularity, it’s a liquid version of Miss Popularity. Besides I still have my Miss Popularity with me since 2007. hehe :) I apply High Beam or Miss Popularity on the bridge of my nose, brow bown, cupid’s bow and above my cheek bones. It brightens up the features making the overall look more ‘awake’. Will be getting High Beam once I’ve finished using Miss Popularity and mini size High Beam. That will be somewhere around 2015 I reckon, judging by how slow I use highlighters.

Erase Paste came in shade (02) Medium, which looked darker when I opened the lid but when applied onto my skin it looked pinkish-brown. I liked it at first but after an hour of application it started to CREASE and I HATE anything that creases. Maybe its because I did not ‘set’ it with loose powder, but with my current Dior concealer and YSL Touch E’ Clat (though not a concealer, it sorta does the same thing as every other concealer – brightens the eyes/hides eye bags but not so good in concealing big zits) I don’t have to ‘set’ it and it still doesn’t crease even after a long day. Won’t be getting this one next time.

Posietint ohhhh how I lurvee youu, it’s similar to Benetint but more viscous in texture and is pink. I won’t be getting this in the original version as the colour is almost the same as my Shu Uemura X Aya Takano Christmas 2010 collection blush tint which is also a tinted but gel-like blush and it’s still half full. It’ll take a LONG while before I’m done with it.

My favourite is layering Posietint and other blushes over Girl Meets Pearl. I just love the glowy, shimmery after-effect of it.

Pros:

  • Perfect gift set for your best friend or girl friend, they’ll love you fo’ sho!
  • Excellent way to test out a few products before deciding on which to get.
  • $36 per kit at benefitcosmetics.com – Ships WORLDWIDE for FREE at purchases USD$125 and above. Share the shipping w/ friends to make it up to $125.

Cons:

  • A tad bit mini for the price I paid, I was excepting it to be a little bit bigger, but then again each of the original sized items are about $30++ each
  • Erase Paste is not my cup of tea. You need to set it with loose powder or else it will crease and I’m not really a powder person on a day to day basis.
  • Too many brightening & highlighting make up to choose from, I usually end up using ALL – could be a good or a bad thing depending on how you see it.

Finding Marie

I’m sure by know you would have already discovered the amazing news at Peter Alexander. That’s right, PA has collaborated with Disney to release a new Limited Edition Disney range of pajamas. I was curious at first but wasn’t planning on buying as I doubt they’d have Marie as part of their Disney range since 99% of the people I’ve met don’t know who Marie is and Marie collectible items are SO DARN HARD TO FIND. I didn’t even bother going into the store when it was first released, I just checked it out online and to my surprise they had MARIE!!!!! There where three different Marie pj styles though they were all of the same design and pattern. 2 for adults and 1 for girls. The adults one as usual are very pricey at $89 which is CRAZYYYY for just pjs BUT I have a very very very very weak spot for Marie and I usually end up buying anything that has Marie on it. I went to the store this afternoon because I really wanted my very first Marie pajamas and guess what? instead of getting the adult version I got the kids one for half the price of the adult version at $49!!!! It’s the same pattern and design for the pants, and the kid’s shirt is a lot cuter. It’s the ‘Lady & The Tramp’ pj set, which is weird… Marie is NOT from Lady  The Tramp. Marie is from The Aristrocats, how could they get it WRONG?!?!?! I’m a bit pissed that PA has categorised sweet, cute Marie under Lady & The Tramp which is THE WORST and most BORING Disney Movie after Dumbo. Pfft.. flying elephants *yawn*. Watching two dogs eating spaghetti and meatballs is really boring. I think they got the cat wrong, in Lady & The Tramp, the cats were Siamese cats NOT Marie. Anyways it does not matter, what’s most important is that I’ve finally added a new Marie into my Marie collection. I’m still searching for Marie bedsheets and pillow case to fulfill my dream Marie room.

It came with a cute bag/casing. I have a very strong feeling that the bag/casing is part of the extra material left to make the pj pants since the Kid’s size 12 is a lot shorter than the adult’s version but I’m quite petite and tiny myself, seeing that I can fit into a 12 year old girl’s clothes. I must have stopped growing physically at the age of 12. Thank God I’m mentally 21… or am I??

Lady Tramp on the shirt, though I kinda wished it was Marie instead.

Peter Alexander Kids (12 years old). Hey, its good to be small, look at how much I’ve saved.

FOTD: Everything from Benefit’s Finding Mr. Bright kit :) and NO I do not go to sleep in my make-up. Just trying to kill 2 birds with one stone.

Perfect fit! The perfect length and the perfect waist size. I love the shirt, its such a waste to wear it to sleep, who’s going to see me??? I might wear it to uni some day, the shirt that is, NOT the pants. LOVE LOVE LOVE my new Marie pjs <3

Thx PA for including Marie in your Disney range and remember Marie is NOT from Lady & The Tramp.

Good Night xx Sweet Dreams xoxo

Deb’s 21st

It’s been about a month or so since I last updated and September flew by really fast for me. I was away for quite a while and now I’m back and hopefully my blog is running smoothly despite the downtime this blog has been experiencing for the past couple of weeks.

Haven’t been up to much lately and exam is looming soon in about a months time, it also means that I will be back in KL really soon. I can’t wait!!! I’ve been missing the whole family for the past couple of weeks, wanted to go back this week but I really should be studying instead.

Anyhooooo…. back to the fun part about blogging where I blog about what I’ve been up to with PICTURES!!!

Deb’s 21st was in September and we had a really great time celebrating her 21st at what’s-it-called hotel (can’t remember sorry *shy face*) somewhere in the city. It was a bow/bow tie themed birthday party and I didn’t want to spend money on a new dress, so I searched high and low for a ribbon but instead I found out that one of my Sereni & Shentel headbands had a bow on it.

James & I. James looks so funny in his bow tie. I told him NOT to get a stripey same-coloured bow tie as the shirt he was going to wear but he insisted that it will look nice. He still thinks that it looks nice. It looks so camouflaged and clown-y to me. Sorry James.

Thanks for the invite Deb, I had an amazing time :) and Happy 21st!!!!

At the moment I have a few reviews to do and I just received my Benefit Mr. Bright Gift Set (Thanks Thuy for placing the order) which consists of Girl Meets Pearl, High Beam, Erase Paste & Posietint. I’m a big fan of Benefit and we got our products straight from the US so no more getting our money sucked in by Myer for charging Benefit two times the US prices. We are not stupid girls Myer and I thank the internet and Benefit US for shipping WORLDWIDE. Will review on that kit soon and I’m LOVING them all except for erase paste but I’ll save that for another post :)

Simple Short hairstyles

Just to refresh your memory on how long my hair was prior to my haircut, here’s a pic of Thuy and I at Andrew’s 21st a few days ago.

Long hair….. how I miss you so

and then I went to a hair salon

*snip* *snip*

*voila* the end product!

The hair stylist at Cinderella on Leigh Street was really good. He knew what I wanted, short hair but not bob short yet still short and thick at the back. He did a good job meeting my demands and it was a very cheap fix. $25!!!! I was stunned O.O when I paid for it, I was expecting it to be about $50 or something since all the other hair salons in Adelaide were charging me $65-$70 for just a plain, simple haircut. Glad I took James’ advice. I was supposed to cut it weeks ago in the city for $65 since $65 was the cheapest I could find in Rundle Mall, then James told me that with $65 I could eat A LOT of good food, including SEAFOOD BUFFET!!! Buffet is more important than hair so I thought and thought and cancelled the appointment in the city and went straight to Daniel from Cinderella. Glad it turned out really well *releases a sigh of relief*.

It is not a drastic change as I’ve wanted to go short since the beginning of this year, and I’ve only told a few people about my plan just a few weeks ago (not including my mom).

At least right now I spend less time in the shower, use less shampoo & conditioner and less time combing and drying my hair. It’s also very easy to tie up and if I want I can just let it air dry without all that wet hair getting my back and shirt wet like it used to when I had long hair. It feels so airy now and I picked the perfect season to cut it short, the beginning of Spring. Not too cold, yet not too hot.

Short-do with minimal styling.

Pairing my short hair do with my favourite Blair headband in Passionfruit Pink.

2-sided baby ponytails

This is my favourite quick hairstyle as of now as it feels soooo good to touch the ends of my hair. They’re so soft and 100% split-ends free.

That’s all of my quick short hair dos for now. I tried curling is but it looked pretty crappy. It made me look 10 times older :( I’m just gonna begin by getting accustomed with short hair :)

Short Hair

I chopped off my long hair!!!

I finally had the courage to go short this time and I’ve never had short hair before (except when I was first born). I’ve kept it so long and now it’s just sitting on my shoulders.

Since it’s a new hairstyle, I’ve been experimenting with a few easy short hair dos which I’ll blog about in my next post :)

Wedges

First of all, I would like to apologize for my blog’s downtime but it’s settled as long as you enter the URL straight onto your browser. So no googling it on google for now as I’m still fixing that problem but it’s slow at the moment as I hardly have time to work it out on the internet with so many other things going on. Also my internet or modem has been really stuffed up lately. So has my laptop. My laptop lags every 10 mins or so of web browsing and my internet cuts off every 15 minutes for no apparent reason but I’m suspecting it’s the modem’s fault. So frustrating!!!

Last season I had my eye on a particular pair of black suede wedges but they were too expensive, about $200 from Tony Bianco and I draw my line at $200 for any type of shoes as of now since I’m pretty much income-less. So I waited and waited till I spotted a pair for only $20 on Rakuten. They’re a pair of Jiggy wedges but not exactly the one I wanted but they were so gyaru I had to have them.

Jiggy

Black T-bar Wedges. They’re SOOOO pretty and comfy but they’re a little too big for my tiny feet. I bought a size M and I’m pretty sure I’m a Japan Size M in terms of shoes because the last time I was there with my mom, we tried on size Ms and they fit but this is too big. Imma have to get some sole inserts to make them tighter. They’ll have to sit in my closet for now till I get some sole inserts.

STEVE MADDEN!!!! I love SM and I’m a big fan. My entire shoe closet is FILLED with SM and I LOVE them even more when they go on Sale which is quite often. I no longer buy SM shoes when they’re not on sale unless they are VERY VERY pretty and reasonably priced (as long as it’s not $200).

I have a few 5 inch SM heels and I hate wearing them because I’ve been too accustomed with flats that I no longer feel comfortable in stilettos but wedges are still acceptable and these once are about 6 inches including the front platform which gives me the extra height I need. I’m pretty much about 160cm with these babies and taller than a few boys in my cohort. YES!!!!! hahaha

WATCHOUT – Steve Madden.

They’re just so pretty to look at but I still find it a little hard to walk in especially on unstable roads and gaps. It’s still under the hazardous category and I’ve only worn it twice because it’s suede and I’m running out of those suede protection spray which isn’t exactly cheap at all and they stink. I always have a soft spot for suede shoes.

It looks great with leopard prints but too bad, those are my pj pants. Not exactly wise to be wearing pjs out in public.

I bought the WATCHOUT for more than 50% off plus an extra 20% off the original price so that’s about 70% off which is such an awesome deal. I wish SM could do that to all of their shoes cus I’ve got my eye on the ANNNIE-L and PARTY-R which are both sitting around the $200 price range *gulp*. Hope they go on sale to about $60 or less :) hehe..

What’s your favourite pair of shoes this season??
